The latest theory on water use and supply up here goes like this. The BIA and the City of Victorville have plans to build entire communities north of Victorville heading towards Barstow. See the New Town in High Desert page on this website. The new developments need a source of water, Victorville can't supply it , so they go to the BIA controlled Mojave Water Agency (-the MWA.) The MWA comes up with the Super Well project. 22 wells placed between Hesperia and Apple Valley to drain the ground water aquifer of the naturally filtered mountain snow and rain water. Pipe the good water north to Victorville and replace the good water with nasty imported aqueduct water from northern California for Hesperia and Apple Valley. 2 to 3 times more salt and other foul tasting contaminates in aqueduct water than in local ground water. Now the question is if Hesperia and Apple Valley go along with this scam and become dependent on California aqueduct water as the main source or do we use our own ground water?

Good point Paul. Why should Hesperia have to lose it's quality water so developers can increase the population of the area? Also will the replacement water cost more? Anyway you look at it, it's a bad deal for Hesperia and Apple Valley. Any increase in population is going to make water prices go up. As it is, many people are struggling to pay their current water bills. There should only be limited and controlled growth. I remember back when Yucca Valley went hog wild with development and the residents woke up one morning and had no water. We do not want the same problem here.

Paul great stories on the water issue, Im getting all the info I want, Your information is vast. I think the City of Victorville is taking the entire Victor Valley to the cleaners on the Airport and Baldy Mesa 30000 homes getting Mojave River Water. If this is done expect water rates to increase 500 to 1000 percent. This project should not be done. The Aqueduct water should be used to fill all existing water basins in the victor Valley for the upcoming great water emergency caused from a long drought, earthquake,or endangered fish in the delta up north It clearley looks like all of us will be paying for the wells and pipeline thus inriching a bunch of phoney developers. How SAD!
