Ya and what about the money Honeycut gave to that hesperia city council candidate HELEN FERNANDEZ OR ELENA CAMPOS which turned out to be the same person who is currently facing 3 felony and 1 misdemeanor charges and has court tomorrow. then she suddenly dropped from the race. hmm seems suspicious to me.

so Paul, WHY no comment from you on Tad Honeycutt ?? And what ever happened to the Hesperia Property Owners Association ?? Now that you are on Planning how come you don't seem to be interested in holding the City's "feet to the fire" anymore ?? Have you sold out ??? Just curious...

Well, I am still surprised that anything actually happened better then 2 years after the audit came out. So I'm watching patiently and still trying to figure it out as it progresses. Comments before the verdict or predicting the future is not my strong suite. But I am glad that it will be heard in court and in front of a jury.

As for the big picture, trying to change the way things are in Hesperia is not really a one person show that happens as fast as some would like. This web site has been up and running for going on 3 years, exchanging information and view points about local issues while trying to be tolerant of every ones opinion. I probably work on it for at least an hour each day and everything to do with it comes out of my pocket. Cause and effect are hard to quantify, but this years paving budget came in at around $20 million dollars. The reason I started this website was that only $3 million dollars was allocated towards paving roads out of the $126 million dollar city budget 3 years ago. So an increase of $17 million bucks towards paving roads since I started is not bad for a mailman running a website in his spare time.

I'm still going to try and get the property owners group going but I only have so much free time with work- family-my life etc. The planning commission job was not my goal but wanting to be involved in what happens in Hesperia, and having a say in it, is. So I try and learn as much as I can about how things work and apply my agenda, which is to get public services and quality of life issues as the priorities for the City of Hesperia.

As far as Tad Honeycutt goes, my opinion doesn't count and doesn't make any difference. The last jury I was on (a murder case) showed me the difference between what you read in the papers (or now what you read online) and what the evidence is presented in court. Also, how you have to evaluate the evidence according to the law that the judge tells you is applicable. Its a different world on the jury then what the public sees. But if your not sitting on that jury, you don't get to vote guilty or not guilty. So opinions or bashing away at someone may make some people feel better, they really don't accomplish anything towards changing things. The best we can hope for is that justice is served, one way or another. There's no way of predicting how a jury will rule. Remember OJ? Or Robert Blake? Reading the papers, they looked guilty as sin. But they both walked. I'll wait for the verdict before commenting.

As far as selling out goes, the planning commission job pays me $91.75 every two weeks. That comes out to about $12.00 an hour for the time I put in to it. I make around $36.00 an hour working overtime carrying mail so I really lose money working for the City compared to carrying mail. I still would like to be on the City Council, but the election is not until next November. So you do what you can until then, and try and stay positive and moving forward. Even if it seems that your standing still or going backwards sometimes. Enjoy your newly paved roads and keep working for the ones that still need it.

I don't know where this urban myth started but a lot of things would have to happen before anyone gets appointed to the City Council. First would be a vacancy on the Council. If Honeycutt says that he won't resign then he will have to be convicted of a felony at trial. Watching trials drag on and on, I would guess that his won't be until next spring with a verdict given then or in the Summer. If he is convicted the City Council has 3 options, 1- do nothing, 2- call for a special election, 3- appoint someone. These options will be determined by how close it is to the November election, where 2 council seats are up for election. If they make the call to appoint someone, there should be a public process to screen the candidates. This also could take some time. I think Honeycutt does more damage to the developer/government agenda by staying on the council then by leaving. If he is convicted, the City of Hesperia owes us an investigation of Honeycutt and his dealings with developers while on the Council. With an independent investigator, like the Gumport county deal.

Friday should be a big day in this trial as everybody gets copies of all of the Grand Jury evidence. Then the parties will see what they are up against from the DA and will start to plan their actions. My money says both of them will cop pleas before the trial. Dragging their associates down with them in order to save their own skin. It should be good.
