Allegation: The PAC was secretly controlled by Mark Kirk, chief of staff for Supervisor Gary Ovitt. Colonies Partners donated $100,000 to the committee, which later paid Kirk $20,000 and made more than $6,000 in nonmonetary contributions to Kirk's campaign for the county Republican Central Committee.
San Bernardino County Young Republicans
Allegation: The PAC was secretly controlled by Supervisor Paul Biane. The PAC made nonmonetary contributions to political campaigns of Biane and his chief of staff, Matt Brown.
Inland Empire PAC
Allegation: The PAC was created and secretly controlled by former Supervisor Bill Postmus. The PAC received $50,000 from Colonies Partners and later donated $50,000 to Postmus' campaign account.

Allegation: The PAC was created and secretly controlled by Postmus. The PAC accepted a $50,000 donation from Colonies Partners, then closed down and gave most of the money to Inland Empire PAC.
HESPERIA — Raising $850,000 in just his first year in office, San Bernardino County 1st District Supervisor Brad Mitzelfelt said he has proven he has strong backing from county and High Desert supporters.
Despite having such a large war chest, Mitzelfelt has been particularly careful about how he spends campaign funds.
According to campaign contribution documents, Mitzelfelt still has a $709,000 cash balance.
“I’m very pleased with our fundraising efforts so far, despite the weakened economy,” Mitzelfelt said.
His contributors range from developers and Indian tribes to doctors and local attorneys.
Campaign documents show that Mitzelfelt has also garnered the support of San Bernardino County-based donors, including some of the county’s deputy sheriffs, deputy district attorneys and firefighters.
“This overwhelming showing of financial support puts Supervisor Mitzelfelt in a strong position to beat back any possible challenge,” said William Abernathie, president of Safety Employees Benefit Association.
So far, only Barstow City Councilman Joe Gomez has announced intentions to run against Mitzelfelt this fall.
