Hesperia Education Association PAC Hides Source Of Contributions
The first task is trying to explain the set up here. From what my research has uncovered, the Hesperia Teachers Association created a political action committee (PAC) in 2005, calling it the Hesperia Education Association PAC. From the 460's that I have, the PAC was funded by contributions only described as from the Hesperia Teachers Association 12750 Tesuque Road Apple Valley Ca 92308. With no ID number from the state or disclosure as to where the Hesperia Teachers Association money came from, its anybodys guess as who put the money up to pay for Rileys school board campaign. Here's an example where the HTA gave the HEA PAC $2800.00 at one time to bring the cumulitive 2008 year to date total up to $25,545.20.
From the shot below we learn that the California Teachers Association at 12750 Tuesque Rd Apple Valley Ca has filed a tax exemption as a Labor Orginization who's activity is the "Improvement of conditions of workers".
From the AKA above we see that the Teachers Association is (Also Known As) the Hesperia Education Association, they are one in the same. Click on the download below to see the Hesperia Education Association's final form 460 for the 2008 year.
Now for the fun part, the tax exempt Teachers Association and their political action committee the Hesperia Education Association spent $57,920.77 on getting Anthony Riley elected to the HUSD. Leaving a $1,879.00 cash balance in their PAC account. Anthony Riley was the only candidate that the Teachers Association and their PAC spent money on. How this works under the activity of "Improvement of conditions of workers" has yet to be explained by the leadership of the Teachers Association to the members who are losing their jobs by the hundreds. If you paid for Rileys campaign with your Union dues, you really need to start asking questions to your Union representatives and Union officials. Was this was funded with Union dues? Was it voluntary? Did the membership vote on this? Who made the decision to back Riley with the PAC money? How is this working out for you as a teacher?
Here's a shot of the PAC making a $2,650.00 monetary contribution to Riley on 12/05/2008 a month after the election, out of the $57,920.77 total.
Here's a shot of Riley's year end financial disclosure where he forgets to report the $2,650.00 monetary contribution from the HEA PAC.
The reporting period covers from 10-19-08 to 12-31-08 on this 460. In Column A Total This Period Riley reports 800 in Monetary Contributions. No sign of the $2650.00 that the Teachers Pac gave him on 12-05-2008. Out of the $78,044.88 in contributions Riley received for his campaign, $57,920.77 came out the Hesperia Education Association PAC. Where the HEAPAC got the money from is unknown at this time, it wasn't disclosed to the public on the 460's. Was it Union dues? Was it the Colonies? Was it Bernie Madoff? Osama Bin Laden? Bill Postmus? Without disclosure from the Hesperia Teachers Assocition as to where the money came from its anyones guess, might as well have some fun with it!
